1. How large are the agistment paddocks? TOP

The Kangaroo Valley Horses property is called “Riverstone”. The Riverstone paddocks vary in size. All agistment paddocks are large with an abundance of grass throughout most of the year. We are careful to not overstock paddocks 

 

2. Can my horse be stabled? TOP

Yes. Agistment with full care caters for horses requiring stables. Stabled horses are taken outside to grassy paddocks on a regular basis for their general health and wellbeing. 

 

3. Do I need to hard feed my horse? TOP

Hard feed is not included in the cost of agistment. Hard feed throughout most of the year is not generally required for horses on spelling with the exception of the winter months and in times of drought. Horses in the riding paddocks and horses on Full care agistment require feed throughout the year. Please phone to discuss your individual needs .

 

4. Will my horse be in a paddock with other horses? TOP

Spelling agistment horses have the freedom of the property to roam sharing with other horses. Riding agistment horses are in small group agistment paddocks. Full care agistment horses can be separated, or placed with a companion horse. We pay particular attention to the nature and behaviour of each horse when grouping horses together for the safety and wellbeing of the group.

 

5. Do you rug agistment horses? TOP

Horses on spelling agistment are not rugged. Rugging is optional for riding agistment horses and for horses in full care agistment.

 

6. What happens if my horse shows signs of sickness or injury? TOP

Agistment horses are checked regularly. If there are any signs of sickness or injury the Agistment  manager  will endeavour to contact you immediately. Veterinary care will be sought only if necessary to ensure prompt attention and pain relief.

 

7. Can I visit and ride my horse at any time? TOP

You are welcome to come onto the Riverstone property at any time during daylight hours. If you need to visit your horse during the night, please make arrangements prior to your arrival.

 

8. What is the access to the property like? TOP

Riverstone is convenient to Nowra and to the Kangaroo Valley however the property is surrounded by the Budgong and the Morton National Parks. The road into the property, Abernethy’s Road, is crown land. Abernethy’s Rd is a 2.5 km bumpy dirt road leading down to the Riverstone gate. This road is accessible to two wheel drive vehicles and horse floats in dry weather. There have been many horse floats entering the property in rainy weather however caution must be taken to drive slowly and it is advisable to use low range 4 wheel drive during heavy rain.

 

9. Can I park and leave my float on the property? TOP

Free long term car and float parking is available to agistment customers. Please discuss your requirements with David or Deborah Banks.

 

10. Where can I ride in the local area? TOP

Agistment customers are welcome to ride on Riverstone’s 210 acres of open pastures, creeks and bush trails. Our customers have access to limitless miles of horse riding from Riverstone into the surrounding Kangaroo Valley area with its breathtaking lookouts and trails. Guided rides can be organized to help you to discover your preferred rides.

 

11. Can I bring a friend to ride with me? TOP

Yes. You can book the Kangaroo Valley Horses for your friend to ride with you however they must be accompanied by two trail guides.  Please note that ALL riders must sign the horse riding contract and waiver forms PRIOR to riding.

 

12. Can I bring my dog or other pets with me? TOP

Unfortunately, not. For the safety and comfort of other riders and horses we can not allow dogs and pets onto the property.

 

13. Do I need insurance for my horse or for myself? TOP

Yes. Agistment customers and their horses are required to have their own insurance. All riders and horse handlers are participating in any Kangaroo Valley Horses activities and agisting  horse(s) at your own risk. A contract and waiver form must be signed prior to agistment

Horses on Agistment enjoy large grass filled paddocks with abundant fresh water supply from rainwater catchment tanks and from crystal clear creeks winding their way through the property. We live on site and are committed to the complete care of your horses.

There are limitless miles of riding opportunities from the Kangaroo Valley Horses property Riverstone with no need to float your horse to ride.

Spelling Agistment, Riding Agistment and Horse Agistment with Full Care are provided with more than 200 acres of fertile land for horses to savour

Please be advised that all Horse Riding and Horse Agistment customers must sign a Riding and Agistment contract and a Waiver Form, Acknowledgement of Risk, as a condition of participating in all, or any activities with Riverstone

The Forms and Contracts must be completed when you arrive at "Riverstone" before any activities take place including, Horse Handling, Horse Riding and Horse Agistment.
