HORSE STARTING AND TRAINING

Horse Training at Kangaroo Valley Horses often begins with  “Join Up” in the round yard. If you have not witnessed “Join Up” it is incredible to watch even the most difficult unbroken horses submit at liberty, voluntarily following every step of the Horse Trainer, not wishing to break the bond.

Just as a mare disciplines her foal, trainers hold the position of the highest rank, the matriarch mare, amongst the horses leading to a partnership of trust and respect.

“Join Up” allows the Horse Trainer to continue working and communicating with the horse, in the horses’ language, moving further into horse starting under saddle and remedial work.

A variety of Equestrian Clinics run throughout the year at Kangaroo Valley Horses including Clinics teaching the skills of horse care and Natural Horsemanship training.  If you own your own horse, or if you are thinking about horse ownership, or simply enjoy working with horses and want to develop a deeper understanding of horse language and behavior, then these clinics are a perfect opportunity for you to develop Natural Horsemanship skills.

Matching people to horses is a gift the Kangaroo Valley Horses instructors are particularly great at! For years riders of all ages and abilities have come to us for advice and direction. Which horse is the most suited horse for your personality, your riding ability, and for the riding disciplines you most enjoy? Every person is unique just as every horse is an individual. When the match fits and you build a bond of trust and respect together, well, it’s simply beautiful to truly enjoy your horse. Together you can do almost anything!  There are specific Equestrian Clinics designed to help you make informed decisions about choosing the right horse, caring for their needs and building life long bonds.
